Anyone looking for evidence that Nick Saban is utterly the man should look no further than the fact that the University of Alabama football players have been studying karate in the offseason.
Senior Defensive End Wallace Gilberry talked about the classes on TideSports.com:
"It wasn't that serious. It was mainly used for a stretching technique. As we got into the process, they showed us a few kicks and punches, but it was mostly for the stretching."
Gilberry said linemen Andre Smith, Antoine Caldwell and B.J. Stabler were flexible for their size, but Gilberry said he was one of the worst in the class.
"I kept wanting to challenge the sensei, but he was too afraid of me," Gilberry joked. "He was definitely afraid. He was afraid he was going to break my neck."
